A couple struggling to conceive invites danger and prejudice into their lives when they secretly adopt an alien child.
Outsider is a sci-fi comedy TV series set in Athens, Greece, as an alien in human form lands in the lap of a couple questioning the very idea of parenthood. Whereas Superman had the stable Jonathan and Martha Kent in calm Kansas, this alien boy has an unstable couple in Greece's chaotic capital.
The show explores the challenges surrounding both men and women in their mid-thirties as they feel the social and biological pressure to settle down. The show asks why we should have children, is it the right choice, and why are we so concerned about having our own when we could adopt and help others?
SOutsider was selected for Midpoint's Smash Cut Programme 2024, and recently received an accredited place at Seriencamp TV Festival, Cologne, offering an opportunity to pitch to established European broadcasters, producers, and sales agents. The project has been received with great enthusiasm and we are currently in discussion with our Greek partners and reputable industry contacts regarding next steps.
